The genre in which I
have chosen to select was Pop. The reason why I chose pop is because it appeals
to me the most out of the other 6 genres. The common features in which I have
found within the 3 music videos, Selena Gomez- Kill Em with kindness, Geko-Y ft
Afro B ‘Y’ and Bloom Twins- Amnesia. Each of these music videos are different
in their own ways however share some same quality’s.
In ‘Kill Em with
kindness’ and ‘amnesia’ both use colour change in the editing process to black
and white. This could symbolise the meaning within the lyrics. Unlike ‘Y’ which
is neutral colours. Through each of the 3 music videos the use of camera
movement on parts within uses a tracking motion to get a steady shot.
‘Kill Em with
kindness’ and ‘amnesia’ are very similar compared to ‘Y’. they each have
montage editing unlike ‘Y’ with tells the story through the music videos with
different shots. On the other hand, each of the 3 have very different
locations. ‘Kill Em with kindness’ is shot in a house with studio background,
‘Y’ is shot out in an urban location top and ‘Amenis’ is all studio shots
nothing else. The location is very important when coming to these music videos
and the location makes a huge effect on the message of the song which is trying
to be shown.
